Once Upon A Time

There was a little girl
She loved to read and would read any book that came into her hands
She read everything,
Little Women,
Hunchback of Notre Dame,
Oliver Twist...

But the book she read the most was Peter Pan

She would want to be just like him,
She'd dress up as him
and play on her playground that she was him.
Fighting Pirates
and Playing with the Indians.
She wore the pages of the book in
reading the words over and over again
until the words on the page
became her script for her every day life.

She related to Peter Pan more than anyone else in existence.
She knew, with premature mourning,
that her childhood and innocence
was only temporary
and one day she would have to grow up
and become an adult
and work and have children of her own.
and forget about the childhood she was passionately in love with.

During the daylight hours
She would go through the woods and the forests
searching for faeries that could tell her the secrets of how to escape this fleeting world she lived in.
But then the sun would set,
and she'd be forced back inside of her house.
With no faerie dust to preserve her.

Late nights
she would carefully climb out of her window,
silently as to not wake her sister sleeping beside her
or her parents down the hall,
and she would sit on the rooftop.
She would search for Peter in the night sky

"Second star from the right, and straight on until morning."
She would whisper.

and when the hours would pass,
and nobody would come and rescue her,
she would climb back inside,
and fall asleep in her bed.

Years went by and her childhood fantasy world fell apart around her.
She started to work and go to school and grow up.
No more dressing up,
No more fighting pirates,
No playing with Indians,
and No searching for faeries...
She was an adult now.

She had forgotten about her love for Peter.

Sometimes,
she dreamed that it wasn't too late,
and she could still be rescued.
But then she would fall to sleep when she realized,
there was almost nothing left to be saved anymore.

Light Chasers- Cloud Cult

I feel like I changed last week when I went to my first concert at First Avenue.
First Avenue is a place in downtown Minneapolis that has existed for more than a few years.... my MOTHER had gone to concerts at First Ave when she was a teenager. That's how old it is.
I'm not quite sure what I can say in response to the Cloud Cult show but all I can say is I changed a little bit on the inside. It was the most amazing experience I'd had in a very long time and I am not quite sure how to react to this.

Their album Light Chasers is a story in their track list

1. The Mission: Unexplainable Stories
2. The Departure: Today We Give Ourselves to the Fire
3. The Invocation (p.1) - You'll Be Bright
4. The Birth
5. The Baby - You Were Born
6. The Lessons - Exploding People
7. The Interference
8. The Battles - Room Full of People in Your Head
9. The Escape - Running With the Wolves
10. The Acceptance - Responsible
11. The Surrender - Guessing Game
12. The Strength - Forces of the Unseen
13. The Invocation (p.2) - Blessings
14. The Awakening - Dawn
15. The Contact
16. The Arrival - There's So Much Energy In Us

The songs I love the most are You'll be Bright, Forces of the Unseen, Exploding People, and Running with the Wolves.
I loved when they played these songs at their show at First Ave on November 18th when I was there. there was SO much energy in the crowd of people all singing around me and I got lost within the music and the Art painting that two member of the band do during the performace was beautiful. My Camera died before I could get a final photo and most of the pictures I find online of their First Ave performance is from the 21+ show the night before that I obviously couldn't attend due to the fact that I'm only 18.
But if you would like to see Scott West's work his Art blog is http://theartofscottwest.blogspot.com/ << Simple enough isn't it?
Connie Minowa who is the wife of the lead singer of the bad is the other visual artist http://www.connieminowa.com/

Okay well if you haven't heard Cloud Cult EVER you really should. They are amazing and they have been around for about fifteen years and they are Minnesota natives which makes me just absolutely love them more. They always bring me up from my low states even when their songs are about depression Craig finds a light at the end of just about any tunnel.

Underneath I'm posting a video of one of their studio performances, and then I'm also going to post one of their music videos. Give you the chance to check them out yourself! and if you find them ever in your area, Don't hesitate to go see them live. If you don't love them after that you have no soul!

XOXO
